Dragon's (& Ghost's) Guide to the Roleplaying!

Now, before you begin you may have a few questions to ask me. Well, I posted this thread in hopes of explaining almost everything I know. Just keep in mind whilst reading that the messages are pretty basic and probably apply to most other respectible roleplaying forums.

Before you may begin you must take the first step, joining a roleplay. Find a roleplay on this forum that appeals to your likeing and then follow their instructions. Usually you will be told to make a bio, or a list of characteristics explaining the character(s) you are making. Though this is not always the case. Some people may want a different sort of introduction, but bios are still dominant over almost everything else.
If your bio is rejected, do't fight with whoever rejected it. Remember, it is afterall their roleplay. If you don't like the persons attitude then go make your own!

*~ Rules Of The Road ~*

Now I am going to post a few "suggestions" that you may want to read over and follow before roleplaying. Please remember that most roleplayers follow these guidelines and respect them, so should you.

1- Awesomeness Isn't Always The Case ~

Having an "uber" powerful character isn't always the best thing to do. When you isisolate everyone else to your characters control you really aren't making any friends. But to tell ya the truth, its usually the creater that does this. Just try to keep your character in moderation to everyone elses.

2- Grammer~

Yes, this is a must. To gain respect you should always keep good grammer. Without good grammer exactly what you are trying to say my become difficult to read. This rule also goes along with spelling. If you don't know the exact spelling of a word, then look it up!

3- L337 Zp3ak (leet)~

When you enter a roleplaying forum, "leet speak", or instant message shorted words, are not allowed. We have forums with unlimited length, so you should be able to construct full sentences. There is no need for leet, so don't post it. Unless of course the situation calls for it , but this is an extreamly rare occasion.

4- The Proper Enterance ~

On the Runescape Forums, Mod Mark H said "Use the door not the wall to enter a roleplay" , and thats what I'm talking about here. When you first enter a roleplay, be careful on your timing. People don't like when you just jump in during a fight. Do some research and find out when the proper time to come in is. People will thank you for this, trust me.

5- It's Your Name, Use It!~

When you are roleplaying, try to avoid using the words, he, she, it, or I, too often. Character have names, so use them! Using these reference words only create confusion to who, exactly, you are talking about. Plus it makes new players even more confused!

6- Be Different!~

You don't always waht to ave a character just like everyone elses. Be different in your bios! Even go to the extent to create your own race, but try your best to explain it!

7- Uhhh... spam.... ~

Yeah, don't spam up the roleplays. This is VERY annoying. Also keep in mind that posting too many "out of character" (ooc) posts, or posts not taking place in the roleplay, are considered a mild form of spam. Note that these are alright everyone in a while, but its just like sugar on the food pyramid, use sparringly.

8- Godmodding~

Don't godmod, or control anothers character without permission. Remember that this is against the Code Of Conduct and just plain wrong!

9- Autohitting ~

Rapidly hitting anothers character before giving them a chance to fight back is considered autohitting. This is against rules (I think) and isn't very polite. We try to use a certain post system to avoid this. One person will post, then another, then that person again. Try not to post twice in a row during a fight, instead give your opponent a chance to post. They may be a slower typest then you, so you should respect that.

10- Your Bio ~

Usually the creator will make a bio format for you to follow. When filling in this page, take the time to put some intrest into your character. Most people will love an interesting character. Plus this will give you a better chance to play a main role in the game! I also reccomend using the creator's bio format. When you make your own, sometimes it can make them mad or you'll jsut be rejected .

Oh, the things below are just catagories of the types of roleplays that you might see. I'm kinda sad though that Horror isn't listed, though it's kinda self-explainitory.

A/A (Action/Adventure)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yeah, we all know these. Kick ass fighting and adventure threads like the Apocalypse Rises series. In these, you run around fighting stuff and uncovering a storyline (if, of course, you're not like me and actually have a storyline in mind when you write these things). They're all around good general RolePlays to enter itno as you can do almost anything.

Romance
~~~~~~
*shivers* Yeah... the romance ones. In these you basically fall in love with another character. It can be a mixture of things, but mostly romance. A good (sort of) But that's jsut my personalty join whatever Roleplay you like.

Survival
~~~~~~
Right... Survival RPs are where you're stuck somewhere and you have to Survive, like if you were stuck on an island after a plane crash or something. Generally quite good, although usually in the Survival RPs I've seen/been in you're an average human with no powers.

Turn-Based Battle RPs
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Woohoo! These are brilliant! Ever played Final Fantasy or another Turn-Based battle levelling up game like it (Breath of Fire, perhaps?)? Well, this is just like it. There are only four of these threads that I've come across: Koragasa's thread on the RuneScape forums, two of my own, 'The Dying Sun: Crescent Moon' and 'Oblivion: Gateway to Darkness' and finally Tsukasa's thread 'The world//disconnected'. These are pretty damn fun , and no-one can powerplay making them fun and ass-hole free.

Real-Life
~~~~~~
These are RolePlays of my own devising: you basically act as you would act in the real world. It's simple and usually fun, and you can stick yourselfs in the middle of something and see what you would do. Still counts as a RolePlay so you can't be silly. You can have powers, it's only the fact that you have to act like you would act that makes it different. You'd have to call yourself the name that everybody calls you by (i.e. Kyta, Raven etc.) or your real first name (not if you're paranoid about pedos though).

Comdey
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Comdeys arn't really a main theme in Roleplays. However they make a good side theme. For example, when nothing important is happening in the story at the moment, then just try to make some quick gags and laughs. This can give you a chance to show your personalty.

No Adult Content On Role Plays
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
No Adult Content as one of my number one rules. However if two characters are gonna 'do it' in bed, then just put it this way. "Thomas carrys Jinne into the room and closes the door" other words just skip them parts. Pretty much other people know what's going on. But don't be saying there's loud noises or anything. Cause that will result in a bann. Why do we bann adult content? Well when you make a forum you must put if adult content is allowed or not. Ghost put no, so if he does allow adult content too much, this forum will be deleted along with everyone's hard work. So no adult content!
